10 New Years Resolutions For Women in 2021

New Year's Day is always exciting because it’s a fresh, clean slate. The New Year is a time to reset, take a deep breath, and become a better person. After 2020 everyone wants to start with new energy and momentum!

While working out and diets are on everyone's list, what about peace, happiness, self-care, and a new perspective? These things are also essential for a woman’s wellbeing. You cannot fully devote yourself to personal responsibilities, your family, or your career if you don't put wellbeing at the top of your priority list.

Let’s look at New Years Resolutions that will change your life in 2021 and make you the best woman you can be! The purest form of beauty is a confident, collected woman. So if 2020 knocked you down, we got a few resolutions to get you back on track!

1. Build a Better Budget

Most of us entered 2020 blissfully ignorant that the economy would shut down and many of us would lose our jobs and savings. 2021 is a great time to get out of debt, focus on rebuilding savings, and getting back in control of our money!

2. Make (And Read) A Book List

The world can be cruel and strip you from everything you have except for one thing: your knowledge

But no one can take your education away from you. Take time to read more meaningful books in 2021.

A great place to start is your local library, download the free Goodreads app to make a virtual book list,

or check out Audible if you’d rather listen.

3. Create a Cleaning Schedule

2020 taught us a lot about sterilizing everything, but we can’t get lazy in 2021! A source of stress and anxiety can come from a dirty house. This year create a free Canva account and create your own custom cleaning schedule!

4. Pencil Your Year Into A 2021 Calendar

One of the best feelings is when your time is organized and you can rest knowing there are no surprises (like your niece's birthday.) The best way to plan is to sit down with a giant calendar and pencil in your loved one’s birthdays, anniversaries, appointments for the year, holidays, and set reminders for things you need to do in each month (like getting your women’s wellness check, paying the water bill, or start budgeting for birthdays, etc...) Any home goods store will sell a cute calendar for under $10.

5. Schedule Self Care

Speaking of calendars, schedule time for yourself, too. "You time" doesn’t have to be expensive: you can schedule an in-home spa night and do your nails while you listen to music, for example. Self-care looks different for every woman, and only you know what you need to unplug and recharge. Taking vitamins, watching your favorite show, getting counseling when you need it, and relaxing when it’s time to relax are all self-care habits. Self-care is very important so your body can heal, your mind can rest, and you can recharge wholly for 2021.

6. Make This The Year You Schedule Therapy

If you feel like you have a lot of baggage going into 2021, make it your resolution to schedule time to get professional support for your mental health. There are many apps these days that offer virtual therapy. But if you are ready to go see a doctor, ask your primary care physician for a referral. If 2021 is going to be a better year, you need to find healthy and effective ways to let go of the past.

7. Donate Clutter

Science shows us that when we have a clean space, we are more likely to succeed in day to day life. Now that Christmas is over, take time to go through each room of your house with a trash bag and donate old toys, clothes, books, and toss broken items. You will feel accomplished in just a few hours!

8. Write Letters To You

Journalling is a powerful tool that many therapists suggest using to declutter your brain and experience freedom from anxiety. Often we don’t know why we feel anxious or nervous, we just do! This is because those emotions are trapped inside the subconscious part of our brain. When a person writes, their brain translates those feelings into rational thought and sends them to the conscious side of the brain. So this year, make it a resolution to jot down your day!

9. Turn Off Social Media

People get off social media for many reasons, but a few common reasons are: 1. phones can be a considerable time-waster 2. a source of comparison and anxiety. 3. in some cases, the internet can be unsafe for women and children. People who detox from social media report higher levels of happiness, better at being in the moment, and stronger focus. You can pick how long of a media break you want to take--whether that’s a week or a year, you will be sure to feel the benefits of real-life living!

10. Getting Back To Your Spiritual Beliefs

Almost every society, old and new, has religion. A faith community connects us to peace of mind, draws us closer to God who reminds us that we are not alone, and reassures us there is a plan for the future. A church community is also a great place to find people who will support you and cheer you on in 2021. If you got disconnected, 2021 is a good year to start reconnecting to your faith and plugging into the community. And the cool thing is, most churches offer virtual options!

We at MPRC wish you a happier New Year and well wishes as you move forward on your wellness journey!
